WILTON HOUSE

Grade I Wilton House stands on the site of a 9th century nunnery founded by King Alfred which in turn was replaced by a 12th century Benedictine abbey.

Surrendered at the time of the Dissolution of the monasteries to King Henry VIII, the house and surrounding lands were granted to Sir William Herbert in 1544 and since then the house has been inextricably linked to the political and artistic circles of England.

Over 15 years we have carried out a number of surveys of condition at Wilton and have been responsible for a range of repairs and conservation including the East Range, the Cloisters, the Palladian Bridge, the Italian Garden masonry and statuary, re-carving coats of arms and proposals for the Triumphal Arch.
