St Davids Cathedral, Visitors & Interpretation

In recent years the practice has been responsible for a number of alterations to St Davids Cathedral to improve facilities and interpretation for visitors to Britain's smallest city.

At Port y Twr, the close gateway that had been ruinous since the 17th century, we restored the roofs and the interior, including new floors and a stair to create space for a welcome exhibition to the cathedral.

We have developed proposals to re-create the missing cloisters which were built in the 14th century and fell into disuse after St Marys College was dissolved at the Reformation. In St Marys Hall a new mezzanine floor that makes minimum intervention to the fabric provides the additional space for a much needed refectory.

The additional space provided by the new cloister has allowed a Treasury to be created by exhibition designers Aukett Brockliss Guy.
